T8 MakerSpace Donation FAQ
-
There are three primary ways you can help:
• Financial Donations
• Donations of Materials
• Donations of your Experience
Keep reading to learn more about these options, or contact us if you have another idea for how to help.
-
All donations will be used in the classroom for student projects. Materials like lumber, fabric, and printing filament will be made available for student use. Monetary donations will be used to purchase consumable materials and replace any worn or damaged tools. If possible, some money may be spent on capital items for the MakerSpace.
If you choose to donate your expertise, we can record some lessons of you presenting a craft or skill to share with the RUHS engineering and MakerSpace students!

Just follow this link! UHSFAA DONATION PAGE
Click the “DONATE” button in the top right of the screen and input the donation amount under the “Engineering” heading.
The MakerSpace will receive the funds through the UHS Foundation and Alumni Association. The UHSFAA is a 501(c)3 and donations are tax-deductible!

Unfortunately, no. But PLEASE consider using your Arizona Tax Credit to support UHS!
The State of Arizona is VERY precise about how Tax Credit donations can be spent. Because the MakerSpace is a curricular course (not an extra-curricular activity and does not have a CTE completion assessment) we don’t qualify.
If you’re interested, here’s what your Tax Credits CAN be used for:
For the purpose of the public school credit, qualified activities, and qualified programs include any of the following:
• Extracurricular activities.
• Character education programs.
• Standardized testing fees for college credit or readiness offered by a widely recognized and accepted educational testing organization.
• Preparation courses and materials for standardized testing.
• The career and technical education industry certification assessment.
• CPR Training

Two ways you can get them to me;
If you’d like a tour of the MakerSpace, shoot me an email through the contact page and you can drop off your supplies when you come by to see the shop!
If you aren’t near Tucson, you can also send any supplies to the Makerspace at the address below:
University High School
ATTN: Mike Schmidt, T8 MakerSpace
421 N. Arcadia Ave
Tucson, AZ 85711 -
The MakerSpace facility gives RUHS students nearly unlimited possibilities to create and fabricate their ideas.
Though Mr. Schmidt refers to himself as a jack-of-all-trades, that’s not 100% true. There are many types of projects that interest the engineering students that he knows nothing about. That’s where your expertise might come in handy. Maybe you have experience that Schmidt doesn’t.
If you’d like to share an introductory level craft or project about quilting, woodburning, resin dice making, or some other technique, PLEASE let us know through the contact page. If possible, we’d love to have you drop by to record a lesson or two!

You liked that, did you?
If you donate money, materials, or your time and expertise, we would LOVE to add your name to the wall. The hope is that the tiles will eventually tessellate the whole room!
After you make your donation contact us with the name you’d prefer engraved on the tile.
